Wellness Wednesday - Canadian Pine Pollen Spotlight

I recently connected with Canadian Pine Pollen and was intrigued by their products and impressed with their mission and vision. Canadian Pine Pollen is a Canadian company based out of Vancouver that specializes in high quality nutrient rich pine pollen. They were founded by friends with a passion for the wild and environmental stewardship (love it!) and are now spreading the word about this incredible superfood that grows right in my neck of the woods.

I love supporting local companies passionate about their work and products - and when those products are packed full of health benefits & natural energy,  I'm sold. Pine pollen is packed with over 200 bio-active compounds including antioxidants, amino acids, flavonoids, + vitamins & minerals to help keep your body thriving. It has been used in traditional Chinese Medicine & harvested as food for thousands of years and now Canadian Pine Pollen Co. is sustainably harvesting wild raw pine pollen from the pristine forests of Western Canada - making it easier for you to benefit from this plant in your daily life.

Since receiving my jar of Ponderosa Pine Pollen I have been enjoying it mainly in my morning smoothies so that I can take advantage of the energy boosting benefits (and let me tell you it works!).  Lately between keto diet and my smoothies I have been so packed with natural energy that I haven't even been reaching for coffee at work (anyone who knows me knows I need my caffeine in the morning or I'm a right drag - or was at least). The Pine Pollen adds a lovely creaminess to the smoothie and a very fresh flavour. This weekend I will be trying some out in my collagen coffee that I always indulge in on the weekends and I can't wait to see what it tastes like. On top of my smoothies I also made some Pine Pollen & Turmeric Fried (Cauliflower) Rice (which was incredible and I will be doing again), and on top of coconut yogurt. Going forward I will be keeping it in my diet a couple days week because I don't want to miss out on all of the energy & amazing benefits it has to offer.

I don't want to go 'down the rabbit hole' chatting about nutrition too much (there are over 200 compounds after all) here because although I do have a background in personal nutrition, sports nutrition, & natural health I don't want to accidentally misinform you. That is why much of the information (below) has been taken right from the Canadian Pine Pollen website & brochure. If you have any questions about seeing if this product is right for you reach out to them - they are super nice & so passionate I know they would love to answer your questions and point you in the right direction.

Canadian Pine Pollen offers two different kinds of powdered pollen - Ponderosa Pine & Lodgepole Pine - both of which have similar nutrition profiles. As mentioned (above) Pine Pollen is rich in essential amino acids, antioxidants, & flavonoids (+ vitamins & minerals of course). These are 3 big things I love to have in my diet because together they help to protect the body, reduce inflammation, & help build/promote muscle growth (muscle burns 10x more calories than fat pound for pound so adding essential amino acids to my diet to boost muscle growth = hell yes). In addition to these already great benefits it also promotes the following:

  • Boosted Immune System + Protection. Pine Pollen contains gluthathione which is a powerful antioxidant that is often referenced as the top anti-oxidant that is essential for the body's immune and detox systems + it is capable of preventing cellular damage from oxidative stress, free radicals & heavy metals.
  •  Restored Hair Growth + Digestive & Skin Benefits. Another amazing compound found in Pine Pollen is MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) which is one of my favourite things that I take regularly for its incredible (almost non-stop) benefits. MSM has been shown to boost collagen & keratin which are both essential for new hair growth (all my keto friends with this problem - pay attention!). + You all know how much I love my collagen for all of its benefits for the skin & body. MSM also helps lower inflammatory response + it can even help rebuild the lining of the digestive tract!
  • Stem Cell Growth. ABA (Abscisic Acid) is a common hormone found in plants that helps them adapt to environmental stress. Although it comes from a plant it actually activates immune cells and generates stem cell growth in mammals!
  • Skin Cell Turnover. SOD (Superoxide Dismutase) is arguably the body's most important antioxidant and is a powerful anti-inflammatory catalyst that is involved in skin cell production and the reduction of tissue damage. Just a couple more amazing benefits for your skin & health in this beautiful golden powder.
Pine Pollen is packed with many other benefits but these are the top ones for me. I take it 3 or 4 days a week and have really been loving all the benefits but especially all that natural energy. I recently saw on one of Canadian Pine Pollen's IG stories that they recommend taking this intermittently because your body works on a feedback loop so if you take it for 3 days - take a break for 3 days and start again. This helps to keep your body from getting used to it and by giving it a break you are making sure that your are benefiting as much as possible when you do consume it.

I love supporting local Canadian companies and when they offer raw, sustainable, wild crafted products they are passionate about + that are packed full of health benefits - well, is there really anything better? If you're interested in learning more check out their website. I hope you enjoyed my first Wellness Wednesday spotlight and all the future ones to come.

Disclaimer: I received this product for free from Canadian Pine Pollen. I was not asked to post about it and I do not benefit from this post in anyways. I only share products that I truly love and believe in. All opinions are my own and all information provided is accurate.
